General Tips & Techniques:
* Be sure
to keep yarn tension firm and consistent throughout your work.
*
At the end of each row, I have given the number of stitches you
should have.
* I chose
Caron Simply Soft for this pattern. You may substitute any
medium-weight worsted yarn. Bernat Satin or Red Heart Soft work well
too.
Magic
Ring:
Leaving a long tail, at least 8”, Ch. 4, join with
sl st into first st. Work 8 sc into center ring and around tail, do
not join. Pull tail to close the hole in the ring. Mark
beginning of row (piece of contrasting yarn or
paperclip works fine). From this point on, you will be working in the
round

Awareness Ribbon Crochet Pattern:
Row
1: Beginning at top of head, make Magic Ring as above, 8 st.
Row
2: 2 sc in each st around, 16 st.
Row
3: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st*, repeat from * to *
around, 24 st.
Rows
4-10: 1 sc in each sc around, 24 st. End, leaving
long tail for sewing.
Add
eyes at this point in the 6th row, 3 st apart.
Using
yarn needle, hold bottom of amigurumi flat with front and back
together, and sew halfway closed. Stuff
firmly, and then sew the rest of the bottom closed. This sewn
row
will now be your beginning row for the ribbons.
Turn
amigurumi upside down, and begin crocheting in the holes you just sewed
through.
1st
Ribbon:
Row
1: Hold amigurumi upside down with face toward you.
Beginning at right side, crochet 1 sc in each of the next 5
spaces. Ch. 1, turn.
Rows
2-14: 1 sc in each sc across, 5 st. Ch. 1, turn.
Row
15: 1 sc in each sc across, 5 st. End, leaving tail
for sewing.
2nd
Ribbon:
Row
1: Hold amigurumi upside down with face away from you.
Beginning at right side, crochet 1 sc in each of the next 5
spaces. Ch. 1, turn.
Rows
2-14: 1 sc in each sc across, 5 st. Ch. 1, turn.
Row
15: 1 sc in each sc across, 5 st. End, leaving tail
for sewing.
Finishing:
Attach yarn needle to one of the tails on your ribbons.
Weave the tail in and out of rows up the side of one of your
ribbons 1/3 of the way up. This puts it in position to sew
the
ribbons together. Put the other ribbon on top of the one you
are
working with, and sew it in place. Tie off the yarn on the back and
weave in the end.
Weave
in all yarn ends and cut.
Sew
a pin backing to the back if you wish.
Enjoy your new amigurumi awareness ribbon!
