Dudley is the first amigurumi bird of spring. She is approx. 5" tall to the tip of her topknot.
General Tips & Techniques:
* Be sure to keep yarn tension firm and consistent throughout your work.
* At the end of each row, I have given the number of stitches you should have.
This is just a guide. If you are off by 1 or 2 stitches, don’t worry about it.
Amigurumi is very forgiving.

Beginning at the top of the head:
Row 1:With main color, ch. 4. Join with sl st in first st.Work 10 sc into center ring and around
tail.Do not join.Pull tail to close the hole in the ring, 10
st.Place marker at beginning of row.
Row 2:2 sc in each
sc around, 20 st.
Row 3: 1 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 4: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 30 st.
Row 5: 1 sc in each sc around, 30 st.
Row 6: *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 40 st.
Rows 7-14: 1 sc in each sc around, 40 st.
Row 15: *1 sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * around, 32 st.
Row 16: 1 sc in each sc around, 32 st.
Row 17: *1 sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * around, 24 st.

Row 23: 1 sc in next 10 sc. *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from *
to * 3 times. 1 sc in next 10 sc. *1 sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog*, repeat
from * to * 3 times. Join with sl st and end.
Eye Rings (make 2):
Row 1: Ch. 6, join with sl st to form ring.
Row 2: *1 sc in ring, ch. 3*, repeat from * to * 6 times. Join with sl st and end, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Beak:
Row 1: Ch. 5, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch. 1, turn.
Row 2: 1 sc in 2nd sc from hook and in next 2 sc, sc2tog. Ch. 1, turn.
Row 3: Skip 1st sc, sc2tog. End, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Bottom:
Row 1: Ch. 7, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 4 sc. 3 sc in next sc.
Row 2: Continuing up the other side of beginning chain, 1 sc in next 5 sc, 3 sc in next sc.
Row 3: 1 sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, 1 sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc.
Row 4: 1 sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, 1 sc in next 9 sc.
Join with sl st and end, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Wings (make 2):
Row 1: Ch. 4, join with sl st to form ring. 6 sc in center of ring, 6 st.
Row 2: 2 sc in each sc around, 12 st.
Change to 2nd color.
Row 3: 1 sc in each sc around, 12 st. Ch. 2, turn.
Row 4: 3 dc in next 5 sc, 1 sc in each sc to end of round.
Join with sl st in top of next dc. End, leaving a long tail
for sewing.
Tail:
Row 1: With main color, ch. 5. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each across. Ch. 2, turn.
Row 2: 1 dc in each stitch across. Ch. 2, turn.
Row 3: 4 dc in each stitch across. Ch. 1, turn.
Row 4: 1 sc in each stitch across. End, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing: Push stems of safety eyes through eye rings and
position on face. Fasten eyes with washers. Using the tails
of the eye rings, sew them to the face, keeping the round shape.
Sew the widest part of the beak to the face evenly below the
eyes.
Sew bottom to body, leaving a small gap for stuffing. Stuff head
and body firmly. Sew gap in the bottom closed. Sew wings to body,
allowing them to curve out a bit from the body. Sew tail to body,
arching the beginning row a bit to give it a curve to add motion to the
tail.
