Difficulty: Advanced beginner.

Materials: Worsted weight yarn, size U.S. D3 crochet hook, yarn needle, stuffing, 12mm sky blue safety eyes.

Abbreviations:

ch          chain
dc          double crochet
hdc        half double crochet
sc          single crochet
sc2tog   single crochet 2 stitches together
sk          skip
sl st       slip stitch

Ghost Pattern:

Row 1:  Chain 4.  Join with sl st into first ch.  Work 8 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull tail to close the hole in the ring, 8 st.  Place marker at beginning of row.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 16 st.
Row 3:  *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * around, 24 st.
Row 4:  1 sc in each sc around, 24 st.
Row 5:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 36 st.
Rows 6-8:  1 sc in each sc around, 36 st.
Row 9:  *1 sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog*, repeat from * to * around, 1 sc in last sc, 30 st.
Row 10:  1 sc in each sc around, 30 st.
Row 11:  *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 36 st.
Rows 12-13:  1 sc in each sc around, 36 st.
Row 14:  *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 45 st.
Row 15:  1 sc in each sc around, 45 st.
Row 16:  *1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc*, repeat from * to * around.  Join with sl st and end.  Weave in end.

Neck bottom:
Row 1:  Chain 4.  Join with sl st into first ch.  Work 8 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull tail to close the hole in the ring, 8 st.  Place marker at beginning of row.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 16 st.
Row 3:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 24 st.  Join with sl st and end, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing:  Fold up the bottom part of the ghost at the neck.  Begin sewing the neck bottom to the inside of the neck, leaving a gap to add stuffing.  Stuff head firmly, and finish sewing the neck bottom.  End and weave in end.  Stuffing the ghost this way allows the bottom portion of the ghost to be shaped any way you like, and it will still stand up.
