Wine Bottle Amigurumi

A crochet pattern by Michelle McLaughlin of Suncatcher Craft Eyes.

Finished bottle measures approximately 4” tall.

General Tips & Techniques:
* Be sure to keep yarn tension firm and consistent throughout your work.
* At the end of each row, I have given the number of stitches you should have. This is just a guide. If you are off by 1 or 2 stitches, don’t worry about it. Amigurumi is very forgiving.

Abbreviations:
ch chain
sc single crochet
sk skip
sl st slip stitch
st stitch

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn in bottle green and gold or your choice of colors

Crochet hook size C
Stuffing
Yarn needle

Bottle Pattern:
Beginning at the bottom of the bottle:
Row 1: With green ch. 4. Join with sl st into first st. Work 10 sc into center ring and around tail. Do not join. Pull tail to close the hole in the ring, 10 st. Place marker at beginning of row.
Row 2: 2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.

Row 3: 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st,* repeat from * to * around, 30 st.

Row 4: *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st,* repeat from * to * around, 39 st.

Row 5: Crocheting in back of stitches, *1 sc in next 6 st, skip 1 st (invisible decrease),* repeat from * to * around, 36 st.

Rows 6 to 8: 1 sc in each st around.

Row 9: *1 sc in next 8 st, ch 2, skip 1 st (hole for eye made), sc in next 8 st, ch 2, skip 1 st, 1 sc in each st to end of row, 36 st.

Row 10: *1 sc in each st for 8 st, 2 sc in ch 2 space, 1 sc in each st to next eye space (ch 2 space in previous row), 2 sc in ch 2 sp, 1 sc in each st to end, 38 st.

Rows 11 to 13: 1 sc in each sc around, 38 st.

Row 14: *1 sc in next 4 sc, skip next st (invisible decrease),* repeat from * to * around, ending with 1 sc in next 3 st, 32 st.

Row 15: *1 sc in next 6 st, skip next st,* repeat from * to * around, end with 1 sc in next 2 st, 27 st.

Rows 16 and 17: 1 sc in each sc around, 27 st.

Add eyes and facial features at this point.

Row 18: *1 sc in next 4 st, skip next st,* repeat from * to * around, ending with 1 sc in last 2 st, 22 st.

Row 19: 1 sc in each sc around, 22 st.

Row 20: *1 sc in next 2 st, skip next st,* repeat from * to * around, 11 st.

Rows 21 to 27: 1 sc in each sc around, 11 st.

Row 28: Change to gold yarn, 1 sc in each sc around, 11 st.

Row 29: 1 sc in each sc around, 11 st.

Stuff body up to beginning of bottle neck.

Row 30: *1 sc in next 3 st, skip next st,* repeat from * to * around, 8 st. End off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Stuff the rest of the bottle firmly. Attach yarn needle to the tail of gold yarn at the top of the bottle, and sew in and out every other stitch around the last row, pull yarn tightly to close the top of the bottle. Tie off. Keeping the yarn on the needle, push the needle through the body of the amigurumi and out the other side, pull tightly and cut with scissors. This will leave the tail of yarn inside the body for a nice clean finish.
