Quick & Easy
Crochet Pattern

Snuzzle

Finished doll measures 4-1/2” tall.

Note:  At the end of each row, I have given the number of stitches you should have.  If you are off by a few, don’t worry about it.  Amigurumi is very forgiving.

Abbreviations:

ch         chain
sc         single crochet
sk         skip
sl st      slip stitch
st          stitch

Materials:

1 ball of Lion Suede yarn (or any thick and quick yarn)
Crochet hook size F (4.5mm)
Safety eyes (or contrasting yarn to embroider facial features)
Stuffing
Yarn needle

Head and body:

Row 1:  Leaving a long tail, ch. 4, join with sl st into first chain to form a ring.  Work 10 sc into center ring and around tail.  Do not join.  Pull the tail to close the hole in the ring.  Mark the beginning of the row.  From this point on, you will be working in the round.  10 st.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 3:  1 sc in each sc around, 20 st.
Row 4:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around, 30 st.
Rows 5-7:  1 sc in each sc around, 30 st.
Row 8:  *1 sc in next 2 sc, work next 2 sc together*, repeat from * to * around, 20 st.

Add eyes, nose, and mouth now.  15mm safety eyes are placed in row 5, 3 sc apart.  Nose is placed one row down from eyes in the center.  Mouth is placed one row down from nose and one sc over to the right, embroidering across 2 sc.

Row 9:  *1 sc in next 2 sc, work next 2 sc together*, repeat from * to * around, 14 st.
Rows 10-14:  1 sc in each sc around, 14 st.
Bottom of body:
Row 1:  Create Magic Ring as above, 10 st.
Row 2:  2 sc in each sc around, 20 st.  Join and end, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Ears (make 2):
Row 1:  Leaving a long tail, ch. 4, join with sl st into first chain to form a ring.  Work 8 sc in the center of the ring.  Pull tail to close hole.  Ch. 1, turn.
Row 2:  *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * to * around.  Join and end, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Arms and legs:
Row 1:  Ch. 5.  work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.  Ch. 1, turn.
Row 2:  1 sc in each sc across.  Join and end, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing:
Shaping arms and legs:  Attach the yarn needle to the tail.  Sew in and out across the short side of the rectangle.  Pull to gather the stitches together.  Continuing with the same yarn, hold the arm (or leg) closed and sew down the length of it.  Join with sl st.  Continue using the same yarn to attach the arms and legs to the body.

Shaping ears: Attach the yarn needle to the tail.  Position flat side of ear against the head where you want it.  As you sew the ear to the head, gently push both sides together to give the ears a bit of a curve.  Repeat for other ear.

Finishing:  Sew bottom to bottom of body, leaving a 2” gap for stuffing.  Stuff head and body firmly and sew gap closed.

Enjoy your Snuzzle.
